Honda CR -Z (2010-2013)

The Honda CR -Z (Compact Renaissance Zero ) is a compact sports coupe with a hybrid drive that is on the market since June 5, 2010. The car is the successor to the Honda CRX and uses the platform of the Honda Insight. It is produced in the model plant near the Japanese city of Suzuka. However, the development of the model took place at the Italian design studio and body corporate Vercarmodel Saro in Orbassano. Sales of the CR- Z was set in Germany in 2013 due to low numbers.

Drive

The CR -Z is powered by a 1.5 -liter four- cylinder in-line engine with 84 kW (114 hp) in combination with the Honda Civic IMA, an electric motor with 10 kW ( 14 hp ) driven.

The CR -Z is the first hybrid vehicle, which is only supplied with a 6- speed manual transmission. The added performance is 91 kW ( 124 hp) at 6100 rpm. The maximum torque of the petrol engine of 145 Nm is achieved at 4800 rpm, the electric motor of 78.4 Nm at 1000 rpm. The combined fuel consumption is 5.0 l/100 km with Honda, the CO2 emissions 117 g / km.

Drive concept

For the Honda CR- Z is a drive concept was used, which had been already tested in other hybrid vehicles, the manufacturer, such as the Honda Civic or the Honda Insight in daily life. The manufacturer uses a traditional petrol engine with 1.5 liter displacement and an output of 84 kW (114 hp). For example in the start-up is performed by a small electric motor with a 10 kW (14 hp) drive. This enabled the consumption in the mix are limited to five liters ( 117 g / km CO2). Depending on whether the driver's claim was more sporty or more based on consumption, there are three different driving dynamics settings ready (ECON / NORMAL / SPORT).

Facelift

In January 2013 a facelift was performed, which uses, among others, improved engine software, more powerful hybrid technology. The show premiere was 29 at the Paris Auto Salon in September 2012.

He received inter alia revised bumpers, a modified grille and a new diffuser. The performance of the 1.5-liter gasoline engine has increased from 84 kW (114 hp) at 89 kW (121 hp), the nickel -metal hydride battery has been replaced by a lithium ion battery.

The total power thus increased by 13 to now 137 hp.

In addition, the CR -Z gets the "Sport Plus" Boost system. If the battery is charged to more than 50 percent, the driver can activate the system by pressing a button on the steering wheel. The acceleration can then be electrically supported for up to a maximum of ten seconds. A display on the instrument panel flashes when the system is active. The boost system is available in all driving modes Econ, Normal and Sport are available.

Development

The CR -Z is designed as an automobile, is to combine driving pleasure with high environmental compatibility.

The chief developer Norio Tomobe believes to have created by the hybrid drive a sports car that does not cause the driver's guilt despite driving pleasure.
