Honey Cone

Honey Cone was an American soul band of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

History

Before the three singers Edna Wright, Shellie Clark and Carolyn Willis joined together to form a group, they had already been coveted choir singers. Edna had sung at the Raelettes, Carolyn at The Girlfriends and Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans and Shellie at Ike & Tina Turner and Little Richard.

1969 were allowed to accompany three in a TV show Burt Bacharach. Eddie Holland, part of the famous songwriting team Holland- Dozier -Holland saw the group and was so impressed that he took her under contract immediately. He missed them the name " Honey Cone " and produced from 1969 to 1972 several bestsellers with them. Their first single While You're Out Looking For Sugar? could also place it in the bottom half of the singles charts, as her second Singles Girls It Is not Easy. Your first million-seller was the single "Want Ads ", which reached # 1 on the 1971 U.S. charts in June.

The end of 1972, the trio disbanded again and again the members worked as a studio singer. Carolyn Willis sang in 1976 on a hit of Seals & Crofts Group ( " Get Closer " ) the female voice.
