HonokÅhau Settlement and Kaloko-HonokÅhau National Historical Park
The Honokohau Settlement is an archaeological site in the Kaloko - Honokohau National Historical Park on the island of Hawaii.
Due to the suitability as a landing place for canoes and fish ponds Honokohau was significant for the settlement history of Hawaii. The archaeological site holds historic houses, temples ( heiau ), a toboggan ( Holua ) for sliding over the lava flows and scattered petroglyphs.
On 29 December 1962, the Honokohau Settlement a National Historic Landmark was. On November 10, 1978, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
