Honorary citizen of the United States

Honorary citizens of the United States, the U.S. Congress people can (which are usually not a U.S. citizen ) appoint for outstanding merit, or authorize the President to award the honorary citizenship.

Up to and including 2009, this honor seven people. Five awards were held posthumously. The listing is in chronological order by date of award.
