Honoured Military Navigator of the USSR

The honorary title of Honored Military helmsman of the USSR (Russian Заслуженный военный штурман СССР ) was a state and military honors of the former Soviet Union, which was donated in the form of a badge on 26 January 1965. 1988, the honorary title was then abolished.

Award conditions

The title of honor, which was awarded by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR exclusively to aircraft control people ( navigators ) could be awarded for outstanding contributions to the mastery of aviation engineering as well as for high results in the education and training of flight personnel. Furthermore, for many years of air service in the armed forces of the USSR without incident. Award condition was the possession of the military helmsman qualification 1st class or 1st class Militärsteuermanninstrukteursqualifikation. Reception were entitled to tax people of the Soviet Air Force, subordinate associations and institutions, military schools and the central administration of the Ministry of Defence of the USSR. The honorary title was then awarded to the proposal of the Minister of Defence of the USSR.

Stylish look and manner

The silver-plated non-ferrous metal badge in the shape of a scalene octagon is 27 mm wide and 23 mm high. It shows on its face a golden rising to the left fighter which extends both of her hull seats as well as the tail fin on the edge of the badge. Links about the three-line inscription Заслуженный / военный / штурман ( Honored Military coxswain) is to be read. Centered below the aircraft the state abbreviation CCCP (USSR) in front of a right-wing laurel branch can be seen. Was borne the badge on the right chest and above may be conferred medals on a silvery rectangular clip with red ribbon.
