Honoured Military Pilot of the USSR

The honorary title of Honored military pilot of the USSR (Russian Заслуженный Военный Лётчик СССР ) was a state military decoration of the Soviet Union, which was donated in the form of a medal at the band on 26 January 1965. Among the winners of the honorary title also Yuri Gagarin was.

Award conditions

The honorary title was awarded by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Conditions were special merits as a military aviator, excellence in aeronautical activities at the same time excellent results in the political and military training as well as in increasing the combat power and combat readiness. He was explicitly limited to pilots of the three branches of the armed forces of the Soviet Army. Mandatory conditions for a possible award were: classification badge for pilot or flight instructor of the performance class 1 and " not self-inflicted accident ."

Stylish look and manner

The existing non-ferrous metal silver plated medal has the shape of a scalene octagon is 27 mm wide and 23 mm high.
