Hope Sandoval

Hope Sandoval (* June 24, 1966 in Los Angeles ) is an American singer -songwriter who has become known primarily for its work in the band Mazzy Star.

Career

Hope Sandoval was born as a descendant of a family of Mexican descent. She spent her childhood and youth in Los Angeles. With her ​​friend Sylvia Gomez she founded in 1986, the folk music duo Going Home, and together they produced a demo tape. This fell into the hands of Kendra Smith ( known by Dream Syndicate ) and David Roback of Opal. Roback produced with them an album that was never released. Instead, Sandoval now also sang for Opal and began, along with Roback to write songs. With the above after the departure of Kendra Smith now Mazzy Star band they succeeded in 1992 a smaller hit with the song Fade into you, whose music video was also seen on MTV. The band released after a long break in 2013, her fourth album, Seasons of Your Day.

In the following years there were from the force as a shy singer several smaller contributions to other artists' works, including for Air, The Chemical Brothers, Death In Vegas, Richard X, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Bert Jansch and Le Volume Courbe. Together with Colm O'Ciosoig, drummer of My Bloody Valentine, they formed the band Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions that their first CD released in 2001. In the 2010 released album Heligoland by Massive Attack, she sings the song Paradise Circus, which is also the intro of the BBC series Luther.
