Hopkins is a city ( with a status of "City" ) in Hennepin County in the southeastern center of the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, Hopkins had 17 591 inhabitants.
Hopkins is part of the metropolitan area of Minneapolis -Saint Paul.
Geography
Hopkins is located in the western suburbs of Minneapolis at 44 ° 55'30 " north latitude and 93 ° 27'46 " west longitude. The city spans 10.64 km ².

History
The first white settlers arrived in 1852 in the area around the present town. The core of the city was formed in 1887 through the establishment of an agricultural machinery factory including the construction of houses for their employees.
1893 was formed at the request of citizens in the Countyverwaltung the self-managed Village of West Minneapolis.
1928, the name of the place in Hopkins has been changed, the name of the first settler and postmaster of the place.
In 1947 a new church constitution was adopted and modified the municipality status in "City".
