Hopkins Ultraviolet Telescope

The Hopkins Ultraviolet Telescope ( HUT) was a space telescope for ultraviolet spectral range of 90 cm mirror diameter, which together with other telescopes in the shuttle missions STS -35 ( Astro -1, 2 to 11 December 1990) and STS -67 ( Astro -2, 2 to 18 March 1995) was used.

HAT was developed by the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. The only observation instrument was a spectrograph of the wavelength ranges from 82.5 to 185 nm and from 42 to 92.5 nm covering about 0.3 nm resolution. Together with two other Ultraviolet telescopes UIT and HUT Wuppe was mounted on the common alignable observation platform IPS in the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle. In total, over 300 celestial objects, observed from planet to active galaxies.
