Hoplology

Hoplologie is the comparative science of fighting the way how different cultures and people and fight wars. The terminology is both from the ancient Greek hoplos ( a mythical, shield reinforced mythical creatures ) as well as from the Ancient Greek Hoplite, the name of the warrior in classical Greece, is derived. The scientific discipline emerged in the 19th century and is attributed to the explorer and linguist Sir Richard Burton and a few others. It was not until the 1960s, the Hoplologie developed under her mentor Donn F. Draeger ( Draeger Donald Frederick, born April 15, 1922 † 20 October 1982) to a full-fledged academic subject. The researchers have organized themselves in the International Hoplology Society ( IHS).
