Horace Bailey

Horace Peter Bailey ( born July 3, 1881 in Derby, † August 1, 1960 in Biggleswade ) was an English football goalkeeper.

Bailey was in his time as an outstanding amateur goalkeeper and played eleven times for the English national football team of amateurs and won this gold medal at the Olympic Football Tournament 1908.

For the national team of his country in 1908, he completed a total of five missions. Between his debut on 16 March against Wales at the British Home Championship 1907/ 08 and its last use against Bohemia on 13 June were only 89 days. He won with the national team all five games and conceded only three goals here.

At club level, he began his career in 1899 at Derby County. From 1901 to the end of 1902, he played in Crich, before he joined Ripley Athletics. In 1905 he transferred to Leicester Imperial, which he left in January 1907 to connect to Leicester Fosse. By April 1910, he played in Fosse and thereby came to 68 league operations. After half a year at Derby County he moved to FC Stoke, for whom he played, however, only three months, and then in February 1911 the FC Birmingham joined, where he also finished his career.

The amateur footballer was an employee at a British railway company.
