Horace White

Horace White ( born October 7, 1865 in Buffalo, New York, † November 26, 1943 in New York City ) was an American politician and 1910-1911 Governor of the State of New York.

Early years and political rise

Horace White attended Cornell University until 1887 and then studied until 1889 at the Columbia University law. After his admission to the bar he opened together with three partners, a community law firm in Syracuse. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1896 and 1908, Horace White was sitting in the Senate from New York.

Governor of New York

Between 1909 and 1910, White served as Deputy Governor Deputy Governor Charles Evans Hughes. After this had resigned on 6 October 1910 to accept a judgeship on the Supreme Court, White had to quit the partly tenure as governor. They were in this case, just three months between October 6th 1910 and January 1, 1911. On this day, then joined the newly-elected John Alden Dix continued the research.

After the end of his short time as governor Horace White worked as a lawyer again. Later, he was also the Post Standard newspaper out in Syracuse. From 1916 to 1943 he was curator of the Cornell University. The married Jane Lines Denison former governor died in November 1943 and was buried in Syracuse.
