The Hore Abbey ( Irish At Mhainistir Liath, Mainistir Chaisil; Rupes Casseliae ) Cashel (Ireland ) was an abbey originally founded by the Benedictines, located directly on the slopes of the Rock of Cashel, the seat of the Kings of Munster.

According to legend, dreamed of the Archbishop of Cashel, David McCarvill, in 1272, that the Benedictines were planning his violent death. Then he left the Order of the abbey and of the associated lands sell. As a substitute, he took the Cistercian monks of the monastery significant Mellifont Abbey ( County Louth ) to establish a new abbey at Hore. The archbishop himself was from now on the garb of that Order. The Hore Abbey was the last Cistercian foundation in Ireland. The dissolution of the monastery was at 1540.

The cruciform abbey church dates from the 13th century, the tower was added in the 15th century. The ruin is accessible today.
