Horiyoshi III

Horiyoshi III (Japanese三 代目 彫 よし, sandaime Horiyoshi ), civil Yoshihito Nakano (中 野 义 仁, Nakano Yoshihito; born March 9, 1946 in Shimada ) is a Horishi tattoo artist specializing in traditional Japanese full body tattoos such as Irezumi or Horimono and nonfiction author.

Biography

In a public bathhouse Horiyoshi III was aware of a Yakuza with a full body tattoo. Inspired by this encounter he began an apprenticeship with the tattooist Horiyoshi I - Yoshitsugu Muramatsu, of him after eight years of teaching in 1979 the championship verlieh.Nakano worked until the mid-1980s by hand with the traditional Japanese Tebori stick. Through his friendship with Don Ed Hardy, he began to use electric tattoo machines. His motives were focused on the classical repertoire of traditional Japanese stories and designs, among other consisting of peonies, koi fish and dragons to keep alive the tradition.

In 2000, Horiyoshi III founded the " Tattoo Museum " in Yokohama, near the main railway station, which is run by his wife Mayumi Nakano.

Among his published works, sketchbooks are like 36 Ghosts, 108 Heroes of the Suikoden, 100 Demons, 58 Musha, The Namakubi (a collection of drawings of severed heads, of Nihon Shuppansha published), as well as Ryushin, a collection of dragons and folk tales and heroes which were published in 2010 by Kofuu -Senju.

Successor

The successor of Horiyoshi III is his son Kazuyoshi Nakano. He bears the name Soryo ( heirs) until it is after successful completion of training bear the name Horiyoshi IV. Horiyoshi III has only formed yet another apprentice, the German Alex Reinke, which he (literally, " carving - fox " ) was the name Horikitsune.
