Hormizd II.

Hormizd II († 309) was 302-309 Persian Great King out of the house of the Sassanids.

Hormizd He succeeded his father Narseh; for political reasons, he married a Kuschanprinzessin. During his reign, about which hardly anything is known in total, there were probably no major combat operations, although some (later) sources say the opposite, such as the sometimes very problematic Chronicle of Arbela. He is said to have led war against Rome, of which Roman sources know nothing to report. Anyway, he behaved towards the Christians in his kingdom fairly tolerant.

As Hormizd died in 309, there was heavy throne turmoil. Obviously, different factions, who gathered around their own candidates fought. The eldest son of the king was killed, the second blinded flee Roman attack the Empire, the third had, and the victorious aristocratic party raised instead the fourth son, Shapur II, the king who was an infant at the time, but years later, one of important Sassanid kings should ever be.
