Horn River

The Horn River is a right tributary of the Mackenzie River in the Northwest Territories of Canada.

The Horn River rises 25 km north- west of Willow Lake on the northern slope of the Horn Plateau, an up to 820 m high plateau. He initially flows briefly north, then turns but after east-southeast. He takes the Pine Creek on the left. Later, it flows through the lakes Fawn Lake, Second Lake and Mink Lake and performs it bends to the south-southwest. Add to Mink Lake flows from the west of Laferte River. Shortly before its confluence with the Mackenzie River above the Mills Lake and 25 km northwest of Fort Providence meets the Blue Fish River on the left side of the Horn River. The Horn River has a length of about 250 km. The river is named after the Horn River Formation, a stratigraphical unit of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
