Geography

Hornbach, situated just north of the German - French border, and east of the border of the Saarland in the extreme southwest of the southern part of Rhineland- Palatinate. There is the city in West Richmond south of Zweibrücken. It is drained by the Hornbach, which rises at Bitsch and flows to Zweibrücken.

History

In Hornbach ( Gamundias, confluence ') was founded around 741 by Saint Pirmin, who died here the Kloster Hornbach. Founder of the monastery was Count Warnharius of the family of Widonen. Hornbach in Bliesgau belonged to the diocese of Metz. Pirmin was buried in the monastery and there venerated as a saint. Abt Wyrund was in the 9th century, a new monastery church build. Buildings
