Hornburg is a town in the sea area in the district of Mansfeld Mansfeld- South Harz in Saxony- Anhalt and lies about 8 km south- southeast of Eisleben near the B 180
For the former municipality Hornburg were the two small towns Äbtischrode and wood cell. The latter was developed from a former Benedictine monastery and is accessed via its own exit from the B 180.
History
In a resulting 881-899 Directory of tithing of Hersfeld Monastery Hornburg was first mentioned as requiring a tenth place in the frieze Hornberc field in a document.
On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Hornburg, Amsdorf, Aseleben, Erdeborn, Lüttchendorf, Neehausen, Röblingen joined by the lake, Seeburg, Stedten and Wansleben the lake to the unity community overseas territory Mansfeld together.
