Horodysche

Horodyschtsche (Ukrainian Городище; Russian Городище / Gorodischtsche ) is a town with 14,945 inhabitants ( as of 2007) in central Ukraine on the river Wilschanka. The city is the administrative headquarters of Rajon Horodyschtsche and the municipality also includes the village Nabokiw ( Набоків ).

In Horodyschtsche in 1790 the writer Petro Hulak - Artemowski and born in 1813, his nephew, the opera composer and singer Semyon Stepanovich Hulak - Artemowski. Him a museum was founded in the town in honor.
