The horseradish peroxidase - mostly as HRP, of Engl. horseradish, abbreviated - is a peroxidase from horseradish, to be used as a so-called marker enzyme in biotechnology research.

It is used for the preparation of optically active hydroperoxides. It also serves as a conjugate with antibodies that are used as the basis of immunohistochemical techniques in histology. The chemiluminescent reaction of luminol can be catalyzed by this peroxidase.
