Horseshoe Bend (Arizona)

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River near the town of Page (Arizona ) in the U.S. state of Arizona. The loop is known in local parlance as "King Bend " and is about 10 km downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

The viewing platform is accessible via a walking distance of about 1 km, starting from a parking lot on U.S. Highway 89 Admission is free (as of May 2012). However, caution is advised because of the access to the viewpoint has no barrier and the cliffs are steep sloping. The height of the viewing platform is about 1300 meters above sea level and the Colorado River flows about 300 feet below.
