Horst Caspar

Horst Joachim Arthur Caspar ( born January 20, 1913 in Radegast, Anhalt, † December 27, 1952 in Berlin) was a German stage and film actor.

Life

The son of a former officer who studied in Berlin with Lucie Polite and Ilka Gruening spectacle. After an engagement at the Bochum City Theatre (since 1933) Horst Caspar moved in 1938 to the Munich Chamber Games and 1940 to the Berlin Schiller Theater, where he remained until the war-related closure of the stage in 1944. His professional role at the theater were the classic, youthful hero. He received as a "half-breed second degree " under the Nazis to work a special permit.

From 1940 to Horst Caspar stood as the lead several times before the camera, including the staying film Kolberg, where he embodies the commander Gneisenau, who defended the city against the onslaught of Napoleon's troops.

After the end of World War II Horst Caspar was engaged at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. In the legendary WDR Radio Production (1949/1952) of the thumb in the direction of Wilhelm Semmelroth Horst Caspar took over in both parts of the title role.

With only 39 years, died of a character actor, who was married to actress Antje Weisgerber since 1944, in Berlin- Dahlem on a hemorrhage.

Filmography

Some filmographies mistakenly give to a film adaptation of Schiller's play The Robbers in 1940. What is meant is that the film Friedrich Schiller - Triumph of a genius, on the origins of the piece and its premiere play an essential role.
