Horst Kube

Horst Kube ( born September 19, 1920 in Berlin, † October 18, 1976 in East Berlin ) was a German actor, who worked alongside his theatrical activity, especially for the DEFA and the GDR television.

Life

Kube initially sought a career as a naval architect and served in World War II in the Navy. After the war, he turned to acting. He initially worked with as a small actor in theaters and cabarets, took besides acting classes with Harry Berber, before 1953 came about performances on fairy tale theater in Berlin and commitment in Potsdam and Frankfurt ( Oder) on the Berliner Ensemble, where he remained several years.

Since the mid-1950s Kube belonged to the ensemble cast of the DEFA and initially played in small supporting roles in movies before him film director Kurt Maetzig, who previously turned castles and cottages with him, the role of the People's Police Hannes Wunderlich Forget My Traudel ( 1956) entrusted. His portrayal of people policeman who commits a criminal act out of love, brought him breakthrough as an actor. Other notable films such as The Song of the sailors, No hassles with Cleopatra and The Moor dog followed.

In addition to his feature film work Kube also guested at the Friedrichstadt Palast and worked in satirical short films the Stingers series and in TV productions of the DFF with. Horst Kube was married and had two daughters.
