Horst Piepenburg

Horst Piepenburg ( born March 9, 1954 in Rees on the Lower Rhine ) is a German jurist. He works as a lawyer and insolvency in Dusseldorf.

Horst Piepenburg studied from 1974 to 1978 Law at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. He led from 1974 to 1982 the FDP local chapter in Rees. He completed his legal clerkship at a Düsseldorf law firm before joining the firm in 1982 by Dieter Zirpins.

In 1982 he founded the law firm Piepenburg & Gerling. In this firm Piepenburg wrapped 1982-2002 from more than 1500 bankruptcy proceedings. He was involved among other things, the following remediation methods:

Piepenburg has been appointed as the new CEO by the Board of insolvent Babcock Borsig on 9 July 2002. He was able to rehabilitate the plant manufacturer with 22,000 employees in insolvency proceedings under its own administration.

After the Axel Springer AG to its exit from the mail service PIN Group AG said on 14 December 2007, Horst Piepenburg was appointed on 19 December 2007 as the new CEO and renovators.

As on June 9, 2009, the large companies Arcandor AG presented for insolvency, the board Piepenburg appointed Plenipotentiary. In this role, he should, together with the preliminary insolvency administrator, perform the Cologne Klaus Hubert Görg lawyer, a reorganization of Arcandor AG. However Piepenburg laid down his mandate on 16 July 2009. The reason he claimed to have been left by the major shareholder of Arcandor AG, the Oppenheim Bank, in the lurch. Nevertheless, he wanted to continue to support the restructuring process of Arcandor AG as a consultant.

Piepenburg is married and has three children.
