Horst Queck

Horst mercury ( born October 5, 1943 in Steinach ) is a former German ski jumper who competed for the German Democratic Republic.

Career

Mercury made ​​his international debut with the launch at the Four Hills Tournament 1965/66. He remained, however, without much success. Best result was a 38th place in Innsbruck. Mercury won at the East German Championships 1967 bronze medal behind Dieter Neuendorf and Bernd Karwofsky and together with Peter Lesser, Heinz Schmidt and Veit Kührt the silver medal in the team competition. A year later he won behind Manfred mercury silver. Previously, he had reached at the Four Hills Tournament 1967/68 in ninth place in Garmisch -Partenkirchen. In the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 mercury succeeded in Innsbruck with second place, his first podium finish at the tour at all. In the end he was able to celebrate the overall win after more good results. A short time later, he secured his second and third DDR Champion title on the normal hill in front of Jürgen Dommerich and Christian Kiehl and on the large hill in front of Bernd Willomitzer and Heinz Schmidt. In the Four Hills Tournament 1970/71 he could not go on his achievements from the previous year. It was his last tour.

After his career as a ski jumper, he became a coach, first with his hometown club SC Motor Zella- Mehlis, and later as national coach.
