Horst von Möllendorff

Horst von Möllendorff, actually Horst Heinrich Wichard von Möllendorff ( born April 26, 1906 in Frankfurt ( Oder), † 17 December 1992 ) was a German press illustrator and caricaturist.

Life and work

From Möllendorff was a son of the Prussian Hauptmann Kurt von Möllendorff and his wife Gertrud Bothe. From his marriage with Marita Jakubzik born the son of Roger originate ( born 1940 ) and daughter Kerstin (* 1941). Mollendorff published cartoons and humor drawings in newspapers. Some of them were published in book form.

Under the Hitler regime, he was in 1943 or 1944 used as a source of ideas for cheerful cartoons that should be made ​​according to the will of the Propaganda Minister Goebbels. The short film The Snowman, made by Hans Fischerkoesen is based on an idea by Möllen Dorffs.

In the 1950s Mollendorff again had a weekly column with wit drawings in the magazine Stern.
