Hostalric

Hostalric is a Catalan village in the interior, and is one of La Selva in the province of Girona. Girona is about 40, about 60 km to Barcelona.

Attractions

The village consists of an upper and a lower part of the village. The two village centers are separated by a village square. The lower village is the original old town with original medieval building facades. Hostalric has city walls, which date from the 14th century.

The 33 meter high and consists of three storeys Torre dels Frares ( literally translated: " Tower of the monks "), which takes its name from a former convent in the vicinity, was used for the defense of the village. During the Napoleonic War, the French occupied the tower in 1810. In order to prevent the Spaniards could use him again, they finally destroyed him. After nearly 200 years, the tower was rebuilt.

Events

On the first weekend in July Hostalric celebrates his big party. For static program includes sardanas, sports competitions, fire-walking, night dancing under the open sky and other events.
