HOT (missile)

The anti-tank missile system HOT (skin subsonique Optiquement Téléguidé = high subsonic optical remote controlled ) is a wire- steered day and night vision -capable missile system of the second generation, which is intended primarily for anti-tank. This German - French history ( MBB and Aerospatiale, Airbus now Group) began in 1963. The missile system is marketed by EADS subsidiary Euromissile.

The weapon system HOT can be installed both helicopters and ground vehicles. Among other things, or the French Gazelle, the German anti-tank helicopter (PAH 1) Bo 105- P, the support helicopter Eurocopter Tiger and the Jagdpanzer Jaguar 1 were equipped with it.

The latest version of the weapon system HOT is equipped with a passive steering image processing system thus providing an extremely high resistance to natural and artificial interferers. From 1990 the systems were equipped with thermal imaging devices to achieve a 24 -hour operational capability. The latest generation of the guided missile ( LFK ) HOT 3 has a tandem shaped charge warhead and can therefore be used not only able to penetrate armor with reactive add-on armor, but also very effective against buildings or bunkers.
