Hot Spring County, Arkansas

The Hot Spring County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Malvern. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

History

The Hot Spring County was formed on November 2, 1829 from parts of Clark County as the 18th county in Arkansas. It was named for the hot springs is located here, which were later used as a medicinal springs. Ironically, the hot springs are no longer within the Countygrenzen.

First county seat was in Hot Springs. 1844 was Rockport. In 1866 the two-story County Courthouse was completed, which was destroyed again but on January 23, 1873 by fire.
