Hotel Tryp Habana Libre

The Hotel Habana Libre was the largest hotel in Cuba before the opening of Playa Pescadero. It is located in the Vedado district of Havana, the capital. As Havana Hilton was in March 1958 - as every hotel was built in his lifetime of the chain - opened by Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton Group. It was nationalized in October 1960 by the government of Fidel Castro and used shortly after the revolution as a headquarters. Since 1996, it is operated by the Spanish Melia - group under the name of Tryp Habana Libre.
