After Timeout is a term in telecommunications and refers to the automatic construction of a telephone call by lifting the handset to a predetermined number. The structure of the compound is carried out after a specified time, so that the possibility exists to choose more than the predetermined number. The telephone number to which the connection is made, so does not need to be elected, but has been fixed in the telephone system via software. The name after Timeout refers to the notion that a critically ill or severely injured man gasping verge of unconsciousness picks up the phone, but no longer is able to dial a number. This feature was developed by the company Standard Elektrik Lorenz (SEL ), which has long been the sole provider of telephone systems using this technique.
