Hotsumi Ozaki

Ozaki Hotsumi (Japanese尾崎 秀 実born April 29, and on 1 May 1901 in Shirakawa, Gifu Prefecture, † November 7, 1944 in Toshima, Tokyo city (now Tokyo) ) was a Japanese journalist, communist and spy on behalf of the Soviet Union.

He belonged to the circle around Richard Sorge and was hanged on the same day immediately prior to that. He was the only Japanese man who was hanged during the Second World War in Japan for treason in Sugamo Prison. Even in prison, he wrote poems for his wife and daughter. These poems were transferred successfully after the war. As a result, the image of the Japanese public Ozaki Hotsumi from traitors walked toward the fighters against the war.
