Hound

Hound as part of their name is in English for hunting dogs to independently track and places of wild. A distinction is made between Scenthounds who pursue their prey with the help of the sense of smell, and sight hounds that hunt their prey by sight.

After the Anglo-Saxon system of dogs as it is for example practiced by AKC and KC, Scenthounds and Sighthounds in Hound Group are summarized. This corresponds to FCI nomenclature about the groups 4, 6 and 10; in addition, some breeds from group 5 are attributed to the Hounds. Most Scenthounds can use either the hounds or the sweat dogs, most Sighthounds are attributed to the greyhounds after FCI system.

Within the Hounds Hounds are to be defined according to the Anglo-Saxon system of Gundogs and Sporting Dogs, the position of the game show the hunter ( Pointing ) and / or be used for retrieving the booty shot ( Retrievers ).
