Hounslow East tube station

The Metropolitan District Railway (MDR, predecessor of today's District Line ) opened on July 21, 1884, the distance between Osterley & Spring Grove, Hounslow Barracks (now Hounslow West). Nearby there was a year earlier opened terminal station Hounslow Town. After completion of the electrification of the direct connection has been closed because now all trains used in Hounslow Town and west of it came back to the main line via a connecting curve. However, this form of operation proved impractical, so the MDR Hounslow Town closed on 1 May 1909 and the following day the 300 meters northerly station Hounslow East on the direct connection as a replacement opened.

The new station was also initially Hounslow Town and received on December 1, 1925 its present name. On March 13, 1933 for the first time wrong and trains on the Piccadilly Line. Since 9 October 1964, she is the only line on the west of Acton Town section because the District line was shortened.
