House and Merit Order of Peter Frederick Louis

The Oldenburgischer House and Merit of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig, also house and Merit of the Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig, was the only House Order of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg.

History

The Order was founded as a Merit on November 27, 1838 by Grand Duke August of Oldenburg and should remember which took place on November 27, 1813 return of the deposed by Napoleon Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig. He could be awarded for special civil and military merit and consisted of capitular and honorary members. Chapter members were allowed only Oldenburg subjects.

The medal had to be returned in the event of death or when moving up to higher classes. The Ordenstag was January 17th, the birthday of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig.

The Order became extinct with the end of the Grand Duchy in 1918.

Order decoration

The religious character consists of a golden, hanging on a crown, white enameled cross. The central shield in the Avers carries on a blue ground, the winning, intricate cipher PFL (Peter Friedrich Ludwig), surrounded by a red and white rimmed tires with the motto A GOD * A LEGAL * ONE TRUTH. In the reverse there is the coat of arms of Oldenburg.

On back of the cross still stood on the cross arms in golden sign up January 17, 1785 the birthday of the Duke and to the right the date of his taking office July 6, 1785. On the left was the date of May 21, 1829, as the date of death of the ruler and below the foundation date 27 November. taken in 1838.
