House of Gwynedd
The house Gwynedd is the family of the kings of Gwynedd (North Wales), which at times dominated the whole of Wales; derived from it ( in the female line ) from the Tudor.
The best known members of the family are:
- Hywel Dda, reigned around 942-950
- Gruffydd ap Llywelyn, X 1063, reigned 1039-1063
- Rhys ap Tewdwr, reigned 1081-1093
- Llywelyn ap Iorwerth ( Llywelyn the Great), † 1240, reigned from 1194 to 1240,
- Dafydd ap Llywelyn, † 1246, reigned from 1240 to 1246;
- Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, X 1282, reigned from 1246 to 1282, as well as
- Nest ferch Rhys, mistress of King Henry I.
