House of Potocki
Potocki is the name of a Polish magnate family.
History
The Potocki are a famous noble family, whose origin lies in the village of Potok in the Kraków Voivodeship. The family was strongly involved in the history of Poland, especially the eastern Polish border region of present-day Ukraine. The family is known for a variety of Polish statesmen, military leaders and promoters of culture.
The first known Potocki was Żyrosław z POTOKA. The children of his son Alexander were the progenitors of new noble families, such as the Moskorzewkis, Stanislavski, Tworowskis, Borowski and Stosłdowskis.
Jakub Potocki ( 1481-1551 to ) was the progenitor of the line of the magnate Potocki.
The magnate line split into three main lines:
- " Linia Hetmańska " ( " Srebrena Pilawa " ) to German: " Hetmanslinie " ( "Silver Pilawa ")
- " Linia Prymasowa " ( " Złotą Pilawa " ) to German: " main line" ( "Golden Pilawa ")
- " Żelazna Pilawa ", which is considered the oldest, in German: "Iron Pilawa ".
The Złotą Pilawa received the title of Count in 1606 by the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation awarded.
1631 died Stefan Potocki, the founder of the line " Złotą Pilawa ", and was in Złoty Potok (Golden Potok, a village that his line was ) buried. His descendants began to lead their coat of arms in gold color, which is why the line " Złotą Pilawa " ( Golden Pilawa ) was called.
The 3 main lines divided by the time in other branches (Polish Galaz ) to:
- " Galaz Łańcucka "
- " Galaz krzeszowicka "
- " Galaz tulczyńska "
- " Galaz podhajecka "
- " Galaz Wilanowska "
- " Galaz buczacka "
- " Galaz smotrycka "
- " Galaz Lwowska "
- " Galaz Guzowska,
