House of Zborowski

The name Zborowski ( the female form is Zborowska ) is the name of a great Polish noble family.

The name should be (today Sboriw, Ukraine) derived from the Galician town Zborów.

The noble family was founded by Marcin Zborowski. Marcin Zborowski was also one of the most influential, as you referred to him as the second most powerful man in the crown to the king. A part of the noble family converted to Protestantism.

It created many side lines of Zborowski, but the most important and powerful line died out in 1621. Another line died out in the 18th century.

  • Louis Zborowski Count Louis Zborowski Vorov, racing car constructor ( " Chitty Bang Bang " ) and race car driver who died in an accident in 1924. His figure and his cars inspired to book and movie from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Book: 1964, German translation 1965/66, film 1968), he was one of the initiators of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in the UK.
