Houssen

Houssen (German Hausen, els. Hüse ) is a municipality with 1796 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in Alsace region of France. She is a member of the Network of community agglomeration Colmar.

Geography

The community is located about five kilometers north of Colmar. In the east, the Ill and in the west the fencing flows.

History

The first documentary mention of the place in the Latinized form of the name Manus Husen dated to 1176.

Commercial and Transport

Since 1990, two major industrial parks have been created in the municipality of Houssen with Buhlfeld and Mary field in which industrial firms and service companies have settled. Agriculture plays a minor role in the community.

South of the village lies the airfield Colmar- Houssen.
