Howard Porter

Howard Porter is an American comic book artist.

Life and work

Porter began working in Connecticut on the help of his teacher Frank McLaughlin as a professional cartoonist in the early 1990s after the completion of the Paier College of Art. His first job he found as a regular artist of the science fiction comics The Ray, which he designed in collaboration with the author Christopher Priest and which was published by the U.S. publisher DC Comics (1992-1995 ). 1995 recorded the Porter written by Mark Waid mini-series Underworld Unleashed, in which the protagonists of various other DC series - like Batman, Guy Gardner or Green Lantern - were combined into a single story, to experience an adventure together.

From 1997 to 2000 recorded the Porter written by Grant Morrison JLA series. After Porter was a few years as a banker and graphic designer for the company, Credit Suisse First Boston. Opened in 2003, Porter in collaboration with artist Ron Garney a commercial character studio and began working as a cartoonist again. So he drew a mini-series about the Fantastic Four for Marvel Comics. Porter signed in 2004 a two-year exclusive contract with DC Comics. Since then, he has, among other things for the series, The Flash and the mini-series The Trials of Shazam! drawn.

Among the most common artistic collaboration partners of Porter in the past include not only Mark Waid among other things, the technical pen John Dell and the author Geoff Johns.
