Howard Vaughton

Oliver Howard Vaughton ( born January 9, 1861 in Aston, Birmingham, † January 6, 1937 in Birmingham) was an English footballer. The English Cup Winners' Cup in 1887, together with Arthur Brown as the first national player in the history of Aston Villa became famous.

Sports career

The acting primarily on the inside left forward position and as a left winger Vaughton learned to play football at FC Waterloo before it via the detour of Small Heath Alliance ( today: " Birmingham City " ) moved to Aston Villa and the Wednesbury Strollers in 1880.

Between 1880 and 1888 he completed 26 FA Cup matches, scoring 15 goals. Vaughton worked after his active football career as a silversmith.
