Howard W. Robison

Howard Winfield Robison ( born October 30, 1915 in Owego, New York, † September 26, 1987 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware ) was an American politician. Between 1958 and 1975 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Howard Winfield Robison was born during the First World War in Tioga County. He attended public schools in Owego. In 1937, he graduated from Cornell University and in 1939 at the Faculty of Law of the same university. After receiving his license to practice law in 1939 he began to practice in Owego. Between 1942 and 1946 he served in the United States Army Counter Intelligence Corps. Then he was from 1946 until his election to the U.S. House of Representatives County Attorney in Tioga County. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party.

He was elected in a by-election in the 37th Election District of New York in the 85th Congress, there to fill the vacancy that was created by the resignation of William Sterling Cole. His seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, he took on 14 January 1958. In the congressional elections of 1958 he was elected to the 86th Congress. He was then re-elected once. In 1962 he stood as a candidate in the 33rd electoral district of New York for the 88th Congress. After a successful election, he stepped on 4 January 1963, the successor of Clarence E. Kilburn. He was re-elected four times in a row. In the congressional elections of 1972 he ran in the 27th electoral district of New York successfully for the 93rd Congress, where he became the successor of John G. Dow on January 4, 1973. Since he gave up for reelection in 1974, he retired after the 3 January 1975 out of the Congress.

Between 1975 and 1987 he was Vice President for Congress relations with the Association of American Railroads. He lived until his death on September 26, 1987 in Rehoboth Beach. His body was then buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Owego.
