hr-Bigband
The hr-Bigband ( Big Band of the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt am Main ) was (later Hessischer Rundfunk ) founded in 1946 as "Dance Orchestra of Radio Frankfurt". Initially, mainly for the production of entertainment and music to the accompaniment of radio and television shows ( such as the Frankfurt alarm clock ) is used, the sound body has developed since the 1970s to the jazz big band with a focus on concerts. With approximately 50 concerts per year, it covers a wide range of styles within the jazz and dares border crossings to classical to pop, foreign musical cultures and electronics. After three years as Artist-in -Residence Jim McNeely 2011 was chief conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Bigband.
