Hrafn Gunnlaugsson

Biography

Hrafn had already written 19 years a theater piece, which was awarded by the Reykjavík City Theatre and broadcast on Icelandic television. He studied theater and film in Sweden and published several literary works and other one-act plays. After completing his studies he returned to Iceland, where his short film Lily ( Lija, 1978) took second place in the first film festival in Reykjavik Iceland.

After the international success of the Icelandic film by Hrafns Filmland and Sons (Land og Synir, 1979) published Hrafn his feature film debut fathers heritage ( feðranna Odal, 1980), which saw 120,000 Icelandic audience. With its provocative second film Between us ( okkar á milli - í hita above thunga dagsins, 1982 ), he led the Icelandic parliament to adopt a law on protection of national symbols. In the movie, Raven had the national anthem " disrespected " and evokes a process known as the National Shrine, extinct geyser back to life. Hrafn later stated that he wanted to test "how far one can go ."
