Hrnčiarska Ves

Hrnčiarska Ves is a municipality in the south- central Slovakia, with 983 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Poltár, kraj a circle of Banskobystrický. The name literally means " pottery village ".

Geography

The municipality is located in the large basin Juhoslovenská kotlina by the stream Sucha, west of the divide between the lower parts Lučenská kotlina and Rimavská kotlina. North of the village is the hill country Revúcka pahorkatina, a lower part of the Slovak Ore Mountains. The N.M. at an altitude of 252 m village center is located 6 kilometers from Poltár, 21 kilometers from Rimavská Sobota, 24 kilometers from Lučenec and 90 kilometers from Banská Bystrica.

The community is made up of the parts of the municipality Maštinec, Pondelok and Velka Sucha.

History

Hrnčiarska Ves originated in 1964 from the merger of the previously separate places Pondelok and Velka Sucha.

The district VeLka Sucha was first mentioned in 1286 as Szuha while Pondelok appear until the 16th century, in 1515., Where the population has engaged in roofing tile production, and now the eponymous pottery.
