Hrvatska riječ

Riječ Hrvatska (Croatian word) is a political, Croatian-speaking, local weekly newspaper with editorial headquarters in Subotica, Serbia.

The paper is aimed primarily at Croats and Bunjewatzen in Vojvodina.

History

The day of the first issue was 31 May 1945 as a Latin edition of the daily newspaper " Slobodna Vojvodina ". Blaško Vojnić Hajduk was the editor. Staff were Vladislav Kopunovic, Stevan Kolar, Josip Kujundžić, Ljubomir Milin, Mileta Ognjanov, Đuro Kemenj, Ante Vojnić Purčar, Joso Šokčić, later also Balint Vujkov.

On 26 August 1945, the newspaper changed its name to Hrvatska Riječ. Since December 6, 1946, the Hrvatska Riječ is a weekly newspaper. On August 3, 1956, the Sreski odbor SSRN changes the name of the newspaper in novine Subotičke.

Since 2003, the newspaper is published again under the name Hrvatska Riječ.
