HSL 2

The HSL 2 ( Dutch: Hogesnelheidslijn 2, French: Ligne à grande LGV 2 or vitesse 2) is a 95 km long Belgian high-speed line between Brussels and Liège. The HSL 2 is currently operated by Thalys, from the ICE and Intercity trains. The maximum speed limit on the route is a maximum of 300 km / h

Course

Between Brussels and Leuven follows the route of the existing route, which was expanded to four tracks in this area. History

After an agreement of the Minister of Transport involved in the project PBKA the Brussels -Aachen section should be completed in 1998. In the spring of 1998, construction began on the new line. January 11, 2001, died in the collision of two work trains and a driver. Four locomotives and ten cars were causing irreparable damage and scrapped on site.

The company was incorporated in 2002. Due to lack of approval for the route, the newly inserted the timetable change in December 2002 ICE 3 ICE International perverted over the existing track. Technology
