HSL-Oost

Hogesnelheidslijn Oost (short: HSL -Oost, dt: high-speed line east) is the name of a formerly planned high-speed line from Amsterdam to Germany. The line should run through Utrecht and Arnhem.

The course should be driven by the ICE International. At the moment, the ICE is running on the relation Frankfurt am Main, Cologne and Amsterdam the Rhijnspoorweg which leads from Arnhem via Utrecht to Amsterdam, but are on the track a maximum of 140 km / h speed possible. On the new route, which should almost be parallel to the current route, speeds of 250 km / h would have been possible.

The plans now plan to expand the old track so far that they can be driven up to 200 km / hr.
