HTTP File Server

The HTTP File Server (HFS ) is a free resource-efficient web server for Microsoft Windows, which was designed specifically for the provision of downloads.

Functionality

The supported functions are significantly different from those of other Web server. HFS supports the HTTP/1.1 protocol, not FTP. Some standard features such as CGI are missing, but rather unconventional features are available - such as the counting of downloads. This underlines the actual purpose, namely to make a HTTP file server for everyone available. In addition, you can create and manage as user-specific access to the respective files or folders user accounts, plus there is also an upload function that allows other users via the browser files to load on the server, if it wants the server owner.

HFS also performed using Wine under Unix -like operating systems its service properly, which makes it particularly interesting for " command line Lazy " and less savvy users.

History

Development began in August 2002, Version 1.0 was released in September of the same year.

The current stable release is version 2.2f (March 2011), but the development of the beta versions 2.3b for over two years Blazed, most of which are stable and are regularly updated and improved.
