Hu Jia (activist)

Since 2006, Hu Jia was unofficially under house arrest. In 2007, he and his wife Zeng Jinyan, the writes a blog, nominated for the EU human rights prize. Shortly after he had been consulted by telephone conference on 26 November 2007 by the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the European Parliament, he was arrested in December 2007 for "inciting subversion of state power", while his wife, Zeng Jinyan, and their little daughter remain under house arrest. Formally, Hu Jia was arrested in February 2008. In April 2008 he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for " subversive machinations ".

On June 26, 2011 ended his sentence.
